The waterfall walk day tour

Coast Warriors Travel Australia meets you near Central station at 7:30 a.m. and spends the day inside the national park: a 90-minute walk past Wentworth Falls, the Three Sisters and a quieter valley lookout. Pick it if you want to walk in the mountains, not queue for rides, and you are happy to skip Scenic World, the zoo and the ferry.

Waterfall Walk & Three Sisters Day Tour

About this experience

This is the walking day. A minibus leaves Haymarket at 7:30 a.m., you order your lunch on board, and the guide breaks the two-hour drive west with short stops. The centrepiece is a 90-minute waterfall walk at Wentworth Falls, where NSW National Parks says the main fall plunges 100 metres to the valley floor. The often-quoted 187 m is all three tiers together. The listing says the guide takes you to the base of the falls, and that the climb back from there is hard, so that part is optional. With Wentworth Pass and Slack Stairs closed in 2026, the base may not be reachable at the moment, so ask the operator when you book.

After the falls you head to Katoomba for the Three Sisters, where the guide tells an Aboriginal story of the place, then on to a second valley lookout. Lunch is a locally made continental roll, and dietary needs from vegan to coeliac are covered if you say so at pickup. You are back near Central at about 5:30 p.m. The listing is blunt about what it leaves out: Scenic World, the zoo and the ferry are skipped as “too touristic”. That keeps the day in the park and the cost down, because there are no paid attractions on it.

The honest bits. The listing calls it small-group, then states roughly 20 to 27 adults or teenagers, which is a full minibus. There is no hotel pickup: an Includes line says otherwise, but the description says pickup was dropped to buy more time in the mountains, so plan on getting to Haymarket yourself. Lincoln's Rock still shows up in old photos and highlights, but it is closed and the guide uses other viewpoints. Several tracks around Wentworth Falls are closed too, including parts of the National Pass, so the exact route is the guide's call on the day.

  • A 90-minute guided walk past Wentworth Falls and several smaller falls
  • The Three Sisters at Echo Point, with an Aboriginal story told by the guide
  • A second, quieter valley lookout
  • Locally made continental roll for lunch, with dietary needs catered
  • No paid stops: the whole day is spent in the national park

Tips before you book

  • Wear shoes with grip. The falls track is sandstone steps, and NSW National Parks counts about 200 of them down to Fletchers lookout alone.
  • Get to St Laurence Church by 7:20 a.m. The bus arrives close to 7:30 a.m. and leaves at 7:30 a.m.
  • Tell the guide about dietary needs at pickup; lunch is ordered on the bus.
  • Pack a refillable bottle and a drink for lunch. The tour runs in all weather, so bring a rain layer too.
  • Fancy the base of the falls? Decide at the top. Going down is optional, and the climb out is the hard part.

Frequently asked questions

Does the waterfall walk tour pick up from hotels?

No. The description says hotel pickup was removed to save time in the mountains, even though one Includes line still mentions it. You meet at 7:30 a.m. outside St Laurence Church, 812 George Street, Haymarket, about three minutes' walk from Central station.

How hard is the Wentworth Falls walk?

The listing calls it an active walking tour for moderate fitness. NSW National Parks grades the Wentworth Falls track as Grade 3, with about 200 steps to Fletchers lookout. The hardest bit, the descent toward the base of the falls, is optional.

Does this tour go to Scenic World?

No. The listing skips Scenic World, the zoo and the ferry on purpose. If you want the rides, add them on another day with the Scenic World pass, or pick a Scenic World tour instead.

Who can't join the waterfall walk tour?

The listing rules out children under 14, people over 75, and anyone with mobility impairments, heart problems or other pre-existing medical conditions.
